What is Grade 1 Braille?+
Grade 1 Braille is a letter-by-letter transcription where each letter has a unique 6-dot cell pattern. Grade 2 Braille uses contractions and abbreviations to save space and is what most fluent Braille readers use daily.
Can screen readers interpret this Braille?+
Screen readers read Braille characters as their Unicode names, not as the letters they represent. For actual Braille devices, the text needs to be in the proper Braille encoding format, not Unicode Braille patterns.
